James Island, South Carolina

The town of James Island has an interesting history having only been founded in 1992 and receiving its final incorporation in 2012. While there still remain areas on Johns Island not annexed from Charleston, SC into the town proper, the island is situated along Charleston Harbor and the Stono and Folly Rivers offering loads of natural beauty with its marsh views, beautiful parks, and dining and shopping options. The main thoroughfare, Folly Road runs straight through James Island and ends on Folly Beach, but head off any side street or make a stop along the way to find great neighborhoods, outdoor spots like James Island County Park, and Peter Demetre Park, dining spots like Black Magic Cafe or Edisons, shopping and more.
